# Imran Khan

> Strategist and writer at the intersection of science, technology, and society.

Imran Khan is a British-American strategist, writer, and science communicator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is Project Director at the Center for Humane Technology, where he works on AI psychosocial safety. He is also writing Psychedelics: The Essential Knowledge for MIT Press (forthcoming 2026).

Previously, Imran was the founding Executive Director of the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics, CEO of the British Science Association, and Head of Public Engagement at the Wellcome Trust. He has given evidence to the UK Parliament, presented at the AAAS Annual Meeting, Aspen Ideas Festival, SXSW, and the World Economic Forum, and his writing has appeared in the Financial Times, the Guardian, and BBC News.

He studied biology at the University of Oxford, science communication at Imperial College London, and holds an MBA from the University of London.
